Bettie (Elizabeth)'s Story

Life After leaving Kearny High, I had a son, Anthony Michael, by my high school sweetheart Paul VanVeen who attended Clairemont Jr. Collage two years ahead of me. After kickin' around a couple years doing the "Flower Child" trip, and hanging out at the beaches, I met my husband Ken Baker from Spring Valley. We got married and had a daughter, Adrianne. We moved to Mammoth Lakes Ski Resort in 1972 and lived there until I got a divorce and moved to Idaho, in a small town near Boise, called Idaho City, in 1979.I have been in Idaho ever since and live in the Panhandle of Idaho during the winter months, and try to spend my summers at my 2nd home in the Sawtooth National Recration Area outside of Stanley in Central Idaho. My husband Curtis and I have four children combined, my son and daughter and Curt's two daughters. We have six natural grandchildren and four step-grandsons. We are Harley & dirt bike riders, 20 years Biker's Right Advocates with ABATE of North Idaho, White Water Rafting Adventurers, Rock Hounds, and we both make a living being Artists. I have a wood carved sign & graphics business, and Curt does chain-sawed carved animals. We enjoy life to the fullest, travel when we can and love spending time in the wild woods & beaches. We have been together 20 years and it's until "death do we part". Classmates has helped me find long lost friends, neighboorhood friends, and...Expand for more
grade school friends at Holy Family. The ol' hood in Linda Vista, my years at Jr. High, all the agony of being a "wallflower" at Kearny and the few close friends I met there and still have after all these years! I look forward to contacting more and making trips back to San Diego for more reunions with my close friends! School School was pretty boring for me but I enjoyed the social life and my friends. I was pretty shy in thoses days, so I didn't join clubs and had my circle of friends. Loved going to all the Football games, especially since we were CIF champs all during my high school years. Had friends in gymnastics and on the wrestling team, and football team. Art was my favorite class.I wouldn't want to do high school over again...I wasn't crazy about it the first time! Workplace My first job was on an assembly line in a electronics company making ham-radio monitors and cameras. Moved to a ski resort a year later and started my own Security and Condo Cleaning Business, moved on to Condo Manager and Commercial cleaning. Moved to Idaho in 1979 after my first divorce and did a large variety of jobs. Opened an Art Studio with a friend and got into free-lance art, custom signs, wood carved flat relief signs, and a variety of art mediums. Started my Custom Signs & Design business in 1980 and still do that to this day. I also design and sell jewelry and other crafts.
